跨越国界，拥抱世界——2024年上海外国语大学留学生暑期班圆满落幕
SUMMER SCHOOL!
酷暑炽热散去，上海外国语大学国际文化交流学院为期两个月的暑期班缓缓落下帷幕。
本次暑期班以“多体验、促了解”为出发点，为留学生开设了三期共46个教学班级，招收来自俄罗斯、泰国、法国、美国、伊拉克、埃及、秘鲁等48个国家的留学生900余名，创学院历史新高。
除了美国卡耐基梅隆大学项目、上海暑期学校项目、日本长崎县教育厅项目等老牌特色项目外，今年暑期班还首次承接了美国青少年“中文+科技”来华团、美国夏威夷大学项目、美国石溪大学项目、英国“中文培优”来华夏令营、俄罗斯圣彼得堡彼得大帝理工大学项目等。为此，学院为暑期班配备了近50位专业知识扎实、教学经验丰富的教师，带领学生穿梭于汉语知识的海洋，探索多彩未知的中国。从有趣实用的汉语知识到深入社区的社会实践，每一个瞬间都是留学生涯中不可多得的宝贵财富。
夏日虽逝，梦想不灭。
暑期班的同学们带着宝贵的经历与记忆离开上海，继续在世界各地书写属于自己的精彩篇章。他们终将成为中外友谊的使者、沟通世界的桥梁。

It has been an enlightening journey of discovering the country and its rich civilization. During my university years I studied about China through personal motivation, but now I have acquired what I think to be a better and deeper understanding. As I carry forward the lessons learned and memories cherished from this experience, I am more committed to celebrate this opportunity with the scholarship provided to me. I would like to personally thank each and everyone who put effort into this project.

Living and studying in Shanghai have contributed my personal and academic growth. Living alone on the other side of the globe, experiencing cultural shocks and not being so confident in my language skills, surely were some of the challenges I had to deal with. Making friends with people from different cultures and having strong connections with them, broadened my horizons for my future career as international relations major. Beside that, these amazing people will always be welcome to my home, as well as me in theirs. In the future my goal will be to have more connections, not only internationally but also with locals and people from other parts of China, as well as working with Chinese companies to so together we contribute to the development of our countries. In conclusion, living and studying in Shanghai for a month is an unforgettable experience.

My summer camp experience in China was a profound and transformative journey. The blend of personal connections, cultural immersion, and global friendships has left a lasting impression on me. The challenges encountered were minor compared to the overall richness of the experience. This trip has enhanced my appreciation for diverse cultures and has reinforced the importance of open-mindedness and adaptability in our increasingly interconnected world. I can’t wait to make it back to China someday to explore its cultural richness and also to improve my Chinese, so I can communicate with more people and see what this amazing country has to offer!

One of the most rewarding aspects of this experience has been the opportunity to witness China’s rapid development and modernization, the country’s infrastructure, technological advancements, and economic growth are truly impressive. Visiting cities, historical landmarks, and modern innovations has given me a comprehensive view of China’s past, present, and future. The blend of ancient traditions and cutting-edge technology is a testament to the nation’s ability to honor its heritage while embracing progress.

The Shanghai International Studies University Summer School Program is an exceptional educational opportunity that not only offers rigorous academic courses but also provides a platform for cultural exploration and personal growth. As a participant in this program, I had the privilege to engage in a wide range of activities that enriched my understanding of Shanghai’s vibrant culture and history, which is the opportunity I am extremely grateful for. I hope that this is not my last visit to Shanghai and that I will see the campus of SISU many more times.
